Review of Prada Linea Rossa Winter 2022 Ski Ad Campaign by Director & Photographer Kris Lüdi with Talent Julia Marino
Prada Linea Rossa hits the slopes with an epic yet intimate new campaign for its ski and snowboard capsule. The campaign stars professional snowboarder and Olympic medalist Julia Marino, who was captured by photographer and director Kris Lüdi.
Juxtaposing sweeping shots of majestic mountain ranges with dreamlike details, the campaign finds Marino with a day of fresh powder all to herself. The snowboarder shows off her big air skills while an intimate ambient soundtrack emphasizes the feeling of solitude and liberation from being in touch with one’s body and the landscape it’s in, a feeling that finds an impressive balance with the monumental drone footage of alpine crags and crevasses.
While many brands have been pursuing the trend of releasing seasonal ski capsules and accompanying campaigns, Prada’s long-standing Linea Rossa line has always taken it to the next level through its sincere consideration of technical craft and athletic prowess, a commitment that is embodied both in the casting choice of a real, talented, professional snowboarder and in the attention to detail embodied in the collection and campaign. It’s a testament to the thoughtful nature of the brand’s design and narrative identity that such a sport-focused collection still fits into Prada’s well-known aesthetic world.
