Alexander McQueen celebrates the arrival of its Pre-Fall 2023 collection with a striking campaign by photographer David Sims.
Captured among the angular concrete structures of a London rooftop, Sims’ imagery plays with shadow and saturation as he draws out the energy of creative director Sarah Burton’s sharp-angled tailoring, opulent embellishments, and leather-and-denim edge. Archetypal dressing categories – the biker, the businesswoman, the modern princess – are subverted and spliced together, slashing boundaries and creating a kind of hyper-wardrobe sensibility. As Sims puts these looks in conversation with the built environment, he underscores their architectural ingenuity.
At once raw and refined, the campaign is a strong summation of Burton’s unique synthesis of power and feminine poise.
