Manolo Blahnik Celebrates With Special Anniversary Event

The NYC Event Marked the Launch of ‘Manolo’s Silhouttes’ and the 30th Anniversary of His Iconic Mary Jane

Manolo Blahnik celebrated the launch of ‘Manolo’s Silhouettes’ and the 30th anniversary of his iconic Mary Jane shoe with a vibrant event at the Greenhouse at Nine Orchard, overlooking the Manhattan skyline. The gathering, hosted by Kristina Blahnik and House Historian Jamie Prieto, featured anecdotes about the history of some of Manolo Blahnik’s most iconic designs.

‘Manolo’s Silhouettes’ represents a curated collection of the designers most enduring styles.. The collection includes iconic women’s styles such as CAROLYNE, MAYSALE, MARY JANE, BB, SUSA, and CHAOS, alongside men’s styles like PERRY, MARIO, CARLTON, WITNEY, and SEMANADO.

The celebration included a performance by Dianna Agron and a selection of culinary delights such as seared tuna, Wagyu strip steak, and mousse au chocolat. Guests, including a mix of celebrities, influencers, and fashion industry professionals, enjoyed drinks named after the hosts— Manolo’s Margaritas and Kristina’s Negronis.

The Mary Jane shoe, first created in 1994, was inspired by Blahnik’s desire to transition from the elaborate styles of the early 90s to something more minimalist that reflected the era. “I had gone through a bit of a baroque period in the early ‘90s and wanted something to counter that, so I went minimalist,” Blahnik said. He described the shoe as a reinterpretation of the classic Mary Jane, made seductive with a pointed toe and high heel, finished in black patent with a grosgrain trim.

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Mary Jane, Manolo Blahnik announced a special edition of the shoe featuring a pearl button closure, symbolizing the traditional 30-year anniversary gift. This special edition will be available in two styles: white crepe de chine and black suede, and will be sold in limited quantities exclusively in Manolo Blahnik boutiques starting this November.

The event attracted a diverse group of attendees, including actors Annabelle Dexter-Jones, Elizabeth Gillies, Sandra Bernhard, and Sebastiano Pigazzi, as well as a host of fashion influencers and editors.
