The First Iteration of the Event Since Russia Escalated Its Invasion Will Feature Over 50 Ukrainian Brands
Ukrainian Fashion Week is set to return to Kyiv for the first time since the Russia-Ukraine war escalated, with more than 50 Ukrainian brands onboard for the event. Scheduled for September 1st through the 4th, the event will showcase new collections for the Spring 2025 season through fashion shows, presentations, and trade shows.
The main location for Ukrainian Fashion Week, Mystetskyi arsenal, will feature installations reflecting the war and portraits of Ukrainian fashion industry workers who have joined the armed forces. The showcase will kick off with a symbolic unity demonstration at the Ukrainian House.
Despite ongoing conflict in various Ukrainian cities, government officials like President Volodymyr Zelensky and his wife, Olena Zelenska, have been encouraging residents and business owners to continue with their professional pursuits. The first lady emphasized the importance of creativity and resilience in a video message announcing UFW’s return.
Supporting Ukrainian designers, Zelenska has worn their creations for prominent events, highlighting the growth of Ukraine’s e-commerce fashion business. The Ukrainian Fashion Week founder, Iryna Danylevska, reaffirmed the commitment to supporting designers amidst challenges.
Previously, Ukraine’s largest music festival Atlas United was held for the first time since the invasion, and a national team has been sent to compete in the 2024 Olympics. A nonprofit platform supporting Ukrainian designers, Angel for Fashion, will host ‘The Day of Ukrainian Fashion’ in Paris to showcase Ukrainian creativity and resilience.
