The German luxury luggage house extends its Unique personalization service to Original suitcases, introducing colorful handles, wheels, and leather address tags
Rimowa is expanding its Unique customization service to its signature Original luggage collection, introducing a new range of interchangeable accessories that allow travelers to personalize their suitcases. Previously available exclusively for the German luxury luggage house’s Classic collection, the service now extends to both new and existing Original suitcases, offering colorful wheels, handles, and leather address tags in a selection of permanent and seasonal shades. The global launch coincides with Rimowa’s holiday campaign, which celebrates craftsmanship, individuality, and the personal experiences associated with travel.
The expanded service offers ten permanent colors—Ocean, Clover, Cactus, Taupe, Cognac, Rose, Orchid, Paprika, Clementine, and Sunflower—alongside two seasonal shades, Grape and Cloud. Designed to complement the Original collection’s recognizable aluminum silhouette, the accessories can be combined in coordinated palettes or contrasting arrangements, allowing customers to adapt their luggage to their individual preferences. By extending the service to existing suitcases, Rimowa also introduces opportunities for owners to refresh and personalize pieces already in their collections.
Among the new offerings is the Rimowa Original Handle Set, handcrafted in Europe and wrapped in smooth, matte-finished cowhide leather. Featuring a soft-return mechanism designed for controlled, quiet closure, the handles are compatible with Original Silver Cabin, Check-in, and Trunk sizes. The sets are available exclusively in Rimowa stores, where installation is carried out by trained specialists.
The Rimowa Unique Wheel Sets incorporate the house’s signature Multiwheel system and are handcrafted in France. The D65 version is designed for Original Check-in and Trunk suitcases, while the D50 version accommodates Original Compact, Pilot, and Cabin sizes, as well as the Classic collection. Both versions are available online and in stores and can be installed using a T20 screwdriver. Completing the customization offering, the Rimowa Address Tag is crafted in Italy from full-grain cowhide leather, with an adjustable strap and an embossable address card. The tags are color-matched to the handles and wheels, creating a cohesive selection of personalized accessories.
The launch is accompanied by Rimowa’s holiday campaign, which translates the theme of individuality into a series of handcrafted miniature worlds. Unveiled initially through still imagery, the campaign will expand later this month with stop-motion films depicting imaginative scenes contained within customized Original suitcases. Created using materials including clay, paper, felt, and wood, the miniature environments celebrate everyday pleasures and personal milestones, from enjoying a window-seat view to discovering new interests or finding a quiet moment in nature.
Through its playful approach to storytelling, the campaign positions luggage as more than a functional travel essential, presenting each suitcase as a companion to the experiences and memories accumulated along the way.
