Girotto Announces His Departure on LinkedIn Two Months After the Brand’s Change of Ownership
Nicolas Girotto has stepped down as CEO of Swiss luxury brand Bally, just two months after a change in ownership. Girotto, who had been with Bally since 2015 and was promoted to CEO in 2019, announced his departure on LinkedIn, stating he was leaving “to take on new challenges” after an “incredible and fulfilling journey” with the company.
“Leading the brand, which has been a symbol of craftsmanship since 1851, has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life,” Girotto shared. “Over the years, we’ve achieved so much together — navigating the complexities of COVID-19, embracing digital transformation, drastically improving our sustainability footprint and, most recently, witnessing Bally reclaim its authority on the global fashion stage.”
Girotto’s exit follows the acquisition of Bally by Regent LP, a Beverly Hills-based investment firm. Regent, which also owns Club Monaco and Escada, purchased Bally from JAB Holding, an investment group known for its diverse portfolio, including Coty Inc., Krispy Kreme, and Keurig Dr Pepper. JAB first invested in Bally in 2008 and considered selling it to China’s Shandong Ruyi in 2018, though that deal did not materialize.
During his tenure, Girotto oversaw significant milestones for Bally, including the appointment of creative directors Rhuigi Villaseñor in 2022 and Gucci alum Simone Bellotti in 2023. Bellotti recently presented his Spring 2025 collection at Milan Fashion Week, blending Swiss heritage with modern innovation.
While Bally has yet to officially comment, market sources suggest Ennio Fontana, former general manager of Roberto Cavalli and Dsquared2, could succeed Girotto as CEO.
In his farewell, Girotto expressed gratitude for Bally’s artisans in Caslano, Switzerland, and acknowledged the team that has helped maintain the brand’s global presence. “I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for our artisans… and to our brand ambassadors, who passionately share the Bally story with our customers every day,” he said.
Founded in 1851, Bally operates over 320 stores in 60 countries and employs around 1,500 people globally.
