The first touchpoint between a collection’s aesthetic presence and its soon-to-be audience members, invitations represent a small yet exciting creative opportunity to ignite the journey of a fashion show. While digital invitations offer increased sustainability, accessibility, and open doors for some interesting interactivity, there’s still nothing that beats the thrill of holding a bespoke invite in your hand and anticipating the runway show it evokes. The Fall 2024 Women’s season saw an impressive range of approaches to the tradition, from classic and minimal to experimental and playful.
Casablanca tapped into its Ancient Rome inspiration with a ceramic vessel inspired by an Amphora, while Lacoste went even more literal with its invite in the form of a tennis net. Marine Serre invited guests to share in its values of conscious sustainability with a fully recycled, recyclable, and reusable shopping bag bearing the brand’s signature print.
Alexander McQueen tapped iconic illustrator Ralph Steadman, who created a fun caricature of the pin closure hardware that was a signature motif of Seán McGirr’s debut collection for the house.
Perhaps the most original take on a show invitation this season was Balenciaga’s, which extended the brand’s unique partnership with eBay. Each invitation came in the form of a unique item found on eBay and selected by creative director Demna himself.
Here is a look at The Impression’s picks for the best fashion show invitations of the Fall 2024 season.
