Review of Burberry Classics Fall 2024 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Daniel Lee and Photographer Davit Giorgadze with models Lennon Gallagher, Kai-Isaiah Jamal, and Giselle Norman
Burberry continues to reconsider the foundations of a British wardrobe with the new campaign for the Fall 2024 edition of its Classics collection, shot and directed by Davit Giorgadze.
Giorgadze captures Lennon Gallagher, Kai-Isaiah Jamal, and Giselle Norman in airy and casual yet distinguished portraits, keeping a simple focus on the collections tributes to classic outerwear realized through new material fabrications of the iconic Burberry check. The accompanying short videos offer an intimate closer look at the precise details of the designs.
Burberry is still working to find its footing following the rocky financial start to Daniel Lee’s tenure as creative director, as well as the much more recent news of CEO Jonathan Akeroyd’s exit and his replacement with Joshua Schulman, who joins from Coach. While focusing on wearable wardrobe staples can be a smart move during times of uncertainty, the brand should also take care that it doesn’t let itself become too forgettable along the way. Its major seasonal campaigns are already straightforward, and the simplicity and low energy level of this campaign might not help the brand remain in the minds of consumers the way a more creative experiment would.
