Many of the Week’s Major Shows Will Be Livestreamed, with Screenings at the Rockefeller Rink and Online
The Council of Fashion Designers of America has announced a new partnership with Rockefeller Center to stream the runway shows of this September’s New York Fashion Week to the public for the first time. This collaboration will allow audiences to view a mix of livestreams and recorded runway shows from September 6 to 11 at Rockefeller Center, with screenings taking place at The Rink. The initiative makes Rockefeller Center the exclusive centralized location – both physically and digitally – where the public can access NYFW shows. All screenings will be free and open to the public.
New York designers such as Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Tommy Hilfiger, Carolina Herrera, Coach, Khaite, Bach Mai, Proenza Schouler, Luar, Willy Chavarria, and Ulla Johnson are among those confirmed to have their runway shows streamed during the six-day event. Additionally, the programming will feature recent fashion shows from designers like Thom Browne, Rick Owens, Todd Snyder, KidSuper, and Amiri.
“New York Fashion Week is a cultural cornerstone of the city and should be celebrated by all. As the official organizer of NYFW, CFDA is thrilled to be working with Rockefeller Center to stream the fashion shows to the public, giving New Yorkers and visitors a front-row seat to the creativity and innovation of American fashion,” said Steven Kolb, CFDA’s chief executive officer.
EB Kelly, senior managing director of Tishman Speyer and head of Rockefeller Center, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating,
New York Fashion Week and Rockefeller Center are two quintessential New York experiences, so this partnership with CFDA is a natural fit. We are so excited to be the only location where people can view a comprehensive showcase of the incredible work from the world’s most creative designers. We welcome people from near and far to our campus for NYFW watch parties on The Rink and at our restaurants this September, and we are thrilled to be the global epicenter of New York Fashion Week.”
