Continued Management Changes at Fendi as Dubin Steps into New Role
Fendi has named Joanna Dubin as the Worldwide Managing Director of Retail and Wholesale. This appointment will take effect from September 2. Dubin, who is currently Fendi Americas’ President, is set to succeed Giuseppe Oliveri, who will leave at the end of September to seek new career opportunities beyond LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton Group, Fendi’s parent company.
Dubin will then report to Pierre-Emmanuel Angeloglou, who assumed office as the company’s new CEO in May. Oliveri was reportedly tapped by Fendi’s former CEO, Serge Brunschwig, in May 2018. Brunschwig, who became the Chairman and CEO of Fendi in February 2018, is slated for new responsibilities within the LVMH Group.
Upon Dubin’s departure, Valentina Lucaj is scheduled to take over as Fendi Americas’ President, joining Fendi on September 16. Lucaj will be based in New York and will report to Dubin in her new role.
Dubin first joined the Fendi team in January 2019, coming from Louis Vuitton Americas. Her previous roles included CEO of Gilt Groupe Japan, senior vice president of merchandising in New York, senior director of digital merchandising and planning at Coach, and senior director of merchandising for Asia and Japan with Ralph Lauren. She initiated her career in the buying division of Bergdorf Goodman.
In addition to his new CEO duties at Fendi, Angeloglou will hold onto his position of managing director at LVMH Fashion Group. Furthermore, Fendi is preparing for a significant milestone in 2022, commemorating its centenary anniversary with a series of special events.
Last month, Fendi launched a premium fragrance collection made up of seven unique scents reflecting the company’s rich heritage and acknowledging key members of the extended Fendi family. Each scent was designed to evoke a particular personality within the family, starting from Adele Casagrande Fendi, the house matriarch. Adele initiated the business back in 1925 by opening a fur and leather goods workshop in Rome with her spouse, Edoardo Fendi.
Recently, Fendi confirmed it would be opening Milan Fashion Week, which runs from September 17 to 23. However, the official schedule has not yet been disclosed. The company refrained from participating in the Paris Couture Week in late June due to a rescheduling of its exhibitions. This decision was reportedly made in collaboration with Kim Jones, artistic director of couture and women’s wear, along with Silvia Venturini Fendi, artistic director of accessories and menswear collections, and her daughter Delfina Delettrez Fendi, the jewelry creative director.
