Review of Jacquemus Fall 2022 Ad Campaign by Photographer Giovanni Corabi with models Adut Akech, Ella Mccutcheon, Ellen Borges, He Cong, Ida Heiner, Karamba Sanchez, Lila Moss, Mona Tougaard, and Nizar Talal
Jacquemus lifts the curtain on its comfy-couture Fall 2022 collection with a new campaign by photographer Giovanni Corabi.
While designer Simon Porte Jacquemus may be known in part for his frequent use of vibrant colors, his Fall 2022 collection was dominated by an airy use of white, beige, and soft neutral tones, making for a feeling of the freshness and possibility of a blank canvas or clean sheet of paper.
The campaign keeps things similarly simple to let the relaxed elegance of the collection shine through. But while the show that presented the collection was set against the white of the salt mountains of the Camargue park in the south of France, the campaign uses draped black curtains to frame its silhouettes that recall origami in their use of fold and line.
Interspersed with Corabi’s full-look portraits are headshots where his models look defiantly into the camera, their wispily styled baby hairs lending a whimsical softness to the strength of their gaze. These shots also draw to the fore the quirky asymmetry of the collection’s jewelry.
The simple yet elegant campaign does a great job in conveying the distinctly Jacquemus spirit of the collection, fusing haute-minded sophistication with an everyday eccentricity.
