Saint Laurent’s Fall 2023 Spotlight: Kate Moss and Shalom Harlow Through Gray Sorrenti’s Lens
Saint Laurent has unveiled a preview of its upcoming Fall 2023 campaign, which features legendary supermodels Kate Moss and Shalom Harlow. The stars were captured by photographer Gray Sorrenti in creative director Anthony Vaccarello’s new collection.
Also bringing the campaign to life were stylist Paul Sinclaire, hair stylist Duffy, makeup artist Karin Westerlund, and manicurist Alexandra Janowski.
The casting choice further continues the ongoing revival of the supermodel era. Moss, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, and more have graced a number of ad campaigns over the past few seasons. Sabato De Sarno’s first marketing communication for Gucci saw the return of Daria Werbowy, who made her debut during the incoming creative director’s first year in the biz, and was a Phoebe Philo muse, but hasn’t been on the runway since 2014. The cover for Vogue’s upcoming September issue reunites Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, and Naomi Campbell.
But more than a play to the trends, Vaccarello’s casting choice carries forward core aspects of the house’s identity conceived by none other than its eponymous founder. Saint Laurent himself was one of the first to cast both Kate Moss and Shalom Harlow, relying on them in a number of his early 90s campaigns. As Vaccarello’s latest collection pays homage to that era, its only fitting that he should call upon its defining faces as well. The creative director’s recent campaigns have also revived the brand’s classic logo, acknowledging his consideration for its history as he continues to guide this vision forward.
