Spring 2023 Ad Campaign

Review of Kenzo Spring 2023 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Nigo with Photographers Jalan and Jibril Durimel with models Lil Dre, Nina Utashiro, Moses Battiest, Ama Elsesser, Sunmoon Jung, Lily McMenamy, Omar Sesay, Lulu Tenney, and Bomi Youn

Kenzo sees the ocean as a metaphor for the unbounded potential of creativity and youth with its new campaign for Spring 2023. The campaign features photography by Jalan and Jibril Durimel and film direction by Franck Lebon.

Taking its cue from the collection’s nautical motifs, the campaign follows a group of young friends as they explore the beaches of Los Angeles. Subverting the idea of the uniform suggested by the collection, the Durimel brothers’ portraits see each subject as vitally individual.

The accompanying short film makes use of slow-motion cinematography and a unique electronic soundtrack to push the feeling of openness and energy, while threading these shots with time-lapse footage of poppies blooming, the brand’s most recognizable motif.
