Roberto Cavalli Taps Fausto Puglisi As Creative Consultant

Puglisi’s First Collection For The House Will Debut In January 2021

Roberto Cavalli S.p.A. has named Italian designer Fausto Puglisi as its new creative consultant to the Roberto Cavalli brand responsible for all design at the house.

The collection know for its bold take on Italian glamour has been designed by in-house team since Paul Surridge left the company in 2019. Prior to that, Peter Dundas was at the helm from 2010 until 2017 went he parted to open his eponymous label.

The Sicilian born Puglisi, who has created looks for the likes of Madonna, Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez, will hold the title of Creative Consultant. He will oversee all design functions of Roberto Cavalli line, as well as diffusion line Just Cavalli and kidswear line Roberto Cavalli Junior.

Fausto Puglisi Spring 2018

The Fausto Puglisi label took formal flight in 2010 when Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana invited Puglisi to be part of their retail project Spiga 2 which featured a mix of young, unknown international designers. The momentum pushed him to start showing his designs at intimate presentations during Milan fashion week. In 2012, he created costumes for Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. at Madonna’s Super Bowl halftime show. That same year he was appointed artistic director at Ungaro, debuting on the Parisian catwalks in March 2013. By October 2013, he was on the Milan runways with his first full scale Fausto Puglisi show. His look is a blend of Roman opulence and Baroque architecture. His collection is currelty on pause.

I am honored and proud to carry on the legacy of this extraordinary brand and, above all, to continue to support Roberto Cavalli’s image of glamour and refinement. I want to develop my ideas of inclusion, beauty, and amplify the dialogue between cultures, diversity, and multiplied aesthetics. This is a unique opportunity to write a new chapter in Cavalli’s history, continuing to celebrate the legacy of Italian craftsmanship and excellence.
