Sometimes it feels like fashion designers can see right through us. This season, they know exactly what we want, and it’s to be seen. Sheer fabrics were everywhere on the Spring 2022 runways – and the streets – of Paris, Milan, London, and New York, serving up translucent looks at what was going on underneath – which, in terms of other layers, was usually nothing at all.
Acne Studios shares a subversively sexy collection that combined light, airy, and revealing sheer pieces with kink-inspired leather and hardware. Alexander McQueen combined gossamer layers to embody the collection’s theme of clouds. Eckhaus Latta somehow managed to make sheer looks more minimal that we thought was possible. Dsquared2 layered flirty sheer pieces with destroyed knitwear and denim to cast its wearers as grunge princesses.
