Fall 2023 Ad Campaign

Review of Simkhai pre-Fall 2023 Ad Campaign with Photographer Drew Vickers with Talent Amber Valletta

For Pre Fall 2023, Simkhai was captivated by creative textures and how they find their way into wardrobing. Hyper-textured softness evolves into a lighter iteration played out in sensorial surface finishes. There is a play and a reexamination with engineering lines that contour to the form of the body. There is an intentional juxtaposition with the fluidity in silhouette contrasted with the boldness of tailoring.

There is a continued emphasis on crafting wardrobing and wardrobe staples that can be worn seasonless and all year round. Items that elevate one’s closet with ease and simplicity. Items that can be a part of a personalized core collection. Simkhai is taking a new look at essentials and favorite closet drapes, updating them with unexpected combinations.

Simkhai mixed satin with compact knit to create a floor length white dress. There are also micro boucle and woven combinations to enhance the knits for Pre Fall. Simkhai focused on playing with weights of fabrics, specifically with a solid compact dress with a sheer knitted plisse. With an ongoing push in tailoring, there is a structured crepe blazer combined with sheer pleats. Also in speaking to tailoring, there is an oversized blazer dress that is synched with a crystal carabiner trim on the closure. Throughout the collection there are seemingly understated pieces that are intended to dazzle the eye with their textures when up close.

Simkhai created a crystal fringe white dress and a two piece black ensemble that were designed to look evening from a distance and soften as you get close with an ease that is created due to the stretch of the ponte fabric and fringe that were hand applied. These garments were designed with an ability to slip in them, making the items more accessible although in an elevated aesthetic.
