Songzio: Embracing Youthful Summer Vibes in Paris

Songzio creative director Jay Song is known for starting each season by creating works that embody his inspiration through oil paintings, perfectly complementing the brand’s dramatic tailoring and volumes. However, this season took a different turn with tomboyish silhouettes inspired by his experimentation with a new medium.

The use of watercolors resulted in an array of pale pinks and blues, softening the brand’s typical blacks and greys. Brightly colored prints based on oil paintings were also incorporated into the collection.

The runway showcased high-collar windbreakers, oversized blazers, workman’s jackets, blousons with asymmetrical necklines, and wide-cropped trousers or tailored shorts – blending East-meets-West influences that Song enjoys playing with. Cut from lightweight fabrics like silk, organza, or mesh, the pieces felt breezy and generous.

The introduction of women’s silhouettes marked the debut of the Songzio women’s line. Plans were to showcase both men’s and women’s collections in January and June. The women’s line featured flowing skirts, boatneck tops, intricately pleated shorts, and a tweed minidress with a sweetheart neckline.

Songzio is gearing up for the fall opening of its Paris flagship, showcasing a mix of commercial and creative pieces that capture the essence of summer youth.
