From Established Brands to Emerging Designers: NYFW Celebrates Fashion Innovation
The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has unveiled the preliminary schedule for New York Fashion Week (NYFW) for the Fall/Winter 2024 season. Noteworthy highlights include Helmut Lang, under the creative direction of Peter Do, commencing the American Collections on February 9, while Thom Browne will bring the week to a close on February 14, 2024.
With over 70 confirmed designers, the schedule embraces a mix of digital presentations and by-appointment showcases. Returning brands such as Altuzarra, Brandon Maxwell, Carolina Herrera, and Proenza Schouler, among others, will be joined by the comeback of Monse and Delpozo, celebrating its 50-year anniversary with an intimate presentation. Lafayette 148 and Libertine also make their return to the NYFW schedule.
The CFDA is excited to welcome Ludovic de Saint Sernin to New York City for his inaugural runway presentation outside of Paris on February 11. Additionally, the 2023 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund participants, including Diotima, Zankov, Kim Shui, and Tanner Fletcher, will showcase their collections, with winner Melitta Baumeister debuting digitally.
Newcomers to the official schedule, such as Bishme Cromartie, Callas, Colleen Allen, Jane Wade, and Meruert Tolegen, add a fresh perspective to NYFW. The CFDA NYFW Travel Fund, established in 2022, continues to foster relationships between global press and media and participating designers. The fund, now in its fourth season, has supported over 30 international editors, promoting NYFW’s cultural, artistic, and economic impact.
Steven Kolb, CEO of the CFDA, emphasized the commitment to NYFW’s unique strengths, showcasing both emerging and established designers, international brands, and diverse voices shaping global fashion creativity. The CFDA NYFW Travel Fund plays a crucial role in facilitating international connections and supporting American fashion on a global scale. Since acquiring the Fashion Calendar in 2014, the CFDA has been the sole organizer of the Official NYFW Schedule, further solidifying its role in the industry’s event planning and scheduling.
