On May 18, Swedish fashion house Toteme opened its Los Angeles flagship store at 8910 Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood. This new location, designed in partnership with Swedish design studio Halleroed, blends local modernist and Art Deco influences with Toteme’s signature aesthetic, creating a unique and serene retail environment.
The 2600-square-foot store features a sculptural Italian beige sandstone facade, large circular windows, and a meticulously designed interior that showcases Pre Fall 24 looks, accessories, and the emblematic T-Lock bag. The store also highlights artworks by female Swedish artists, including pieces by Theresa Traore Dahlberg and Barbro Bäckström, curated by Toteme founders.
Inside, the store offers a spacious, airy atmosphere with bespoke hammered steel shelves, custom furniture, and a vast skylight that illuminates the space. The design emphasizes perspective and architectural elegance, with arching walls, industrial steel pillars, and a sky-blue corridor adding to the visual experience.
Karl Lindman, Co-Founder of Toteme, described the store as a blend of Swedish heritage and the airy, free-spirited essence of California’s landscapes and architectural history. The flagship store aims to provide a distinct and distinguished character that pays tribute to Los Angeles’s Art Deco past while showcasing Toteme’s commitment to design and craftsmanship.
