Holiday 2021 Ad Campaign

Review of Versace Holiday 2021 Ad Campaign by Versace Creative Director Donatella Versace and Photographer Camille Summers Valli with Talent Stella Maxwell, Malika Louback, Nando Maxwell, Duncan Rincon, and Djily Niang

Versace is red hot and ice cold in a new Holiday 2021 campaign by creative director Donatella Versace and photographer Camille Summers Valli.

The campaign brings iconic Versace style to the ice-cold energy of the world of figure skating. The film begins with hazy film grain through which we see the ice princesses getting ready backstage. The characters are an unexpected choice, yet seem perfectly Versace in the way they balance athletic discipline and talent with diva-like glamor.

The film kicks into high-gear as the skaters take to the ice, interweaving heart-pounding ice skating action with shots of Versace bags or embellished ice skates. The sequence is punctuated as the camera zooms out and we see that “VERSACE” has been carved into the rink’s surface – only to be zambonied over in a cheeky moment of finality.

The photography side of things features more straightforward studio shots that still manage to keep up the icy energy. Snowflakes whirl as hotties and shirtless hunks pose in a range of giftable accessories and holiday-ready loungewear.

The campaign brings a welcome bit of energy and swagger to what might have otherwise been a stereotypically commercial holiday campaign, reminding us why we love Versace.
