Pastel colors of purple, particularly lilac and lavender, continue to trend on the runway during Fall 2021 fashion shows.
It seems as if “Millennial Pink” might never disappear completely, but it has also resolutely morphed into a new spectrum of violet shades from the palest of lilac to deep plummy tones, with a noted emphasis on light and mid-range hues and vibrant accents. Salvatore Ferragamo and Oscar de la Renta are using bright lilacs in large swaths to create bold statement pieces, while others such as Loewe and Calvin Lao sprinkle it in for fun little pops of color. Others such as Lanvin, Miu Miu, Jil Sander, and Chanel blend the lavender with fleshy tones so that in some cases, the purple cast starts to read like a tinted neutral. These pale amethyst tones are a great way to give new life to otherwise run-of-the-mill-type plaids, stripes, and tartan looks, as evidenced by No21, C-zann, and PH5. Fresh and versatile, lavender isn’t just for florals anymore!
