'It’s Movie O’Clock' Holiday 2021 Ad Campaign

Review of Salvatore Ferragamo ‘It’s Movie O’Clock’ Holiday 2021 Ad Campaign by Director Barbara Anastacio with Tezeta Abraham, Hildegard De Stefano, Pilar Fogliati, Josef Gjura, Carlo Palmeri, and Guglielmo Poggi

Salvatore Ferragamo comes together for a classically stylish yet uninspiring Holiday 2021 campaign by director Barbara Anastacio.

“It’s Movie O’Clock” follows the simple storyline of friends – all elegantly bedecked in wintry Ferragamo style – who come together to share a holiday dinner and to enjoy each other’s company as they watch a movie.

The film’s focus on giftable items for the holiday season – shoes, bags, jewelry, and watches – is rather overt; probably more than half of its runtime is spent on up-close shoe shots. They certainly look great, but it makes the film’s ostensible theme of heart-warming togetherness feel thin and unbelievable.

We’ve seen this narrative in holiday campaigns countless times before, and we know it’s not going anywhere because people will always buy stuff for Christmas. Many fashion campaigns require the vision to show people things they didn’t know they needed, but creators don’t need to think hard when it comes to Holiday campaigns because the demand is already there. For those of us who hope to see a little bit of genuine feeling, storytelling, or originality, however, this campaign falls short.
