Review of Isabel Marant Fall 2023 Ad Campaign by Photographer Robin Galiegue with models Irina Shayk, Liya Kebede, Loli Bahia
Isabel Marant subverts the simplicity of the classic fashion editorial with its new Fall 2023 campaign by photographer Robin Galiegue.
The brand has explored a minimal 90s editorial aesthetic for its campaigns over the course of the last few seasons, and this latest outing continues that practice with focus and style. Galiegue deploys a slick and minimalist approach to shooting his models in black-and-white, drawing out the collection’s metallic details and cool contemporary silhouettes.
In a curious detail, the studio setting is completely empty save for an abstract black line running down the outer edge of the images that disrupts their simplicity with an intriguing tension. While it’s unclear whether this is an object actually in the studio (it looks like it’s probably not), the models interact with and lean on it as if it were – making for an evocative blurring of the lines between image and reality.
Impressively infusing an utterly simple visual approach with unexpected tension, the campaign is a unique new expression of Isabel Marant’s take on effortlessly wearable Parisian chic.
