Five Virginie Viard-Designed Chanel Looks Were Selected by Costume Designer Shelley Durran to Appear in the Film
Chanel continues its long relationship with the cinema in a collaboration with Barbie, the undeniably biggest movie of the summer and a hot-pink fashion spectacle.
Five silhouettes imagined by Chanel creative director Virginie Viard can be seen on the big screen, along with bags and jewelry. Costume designer Shelly Durran was given a selection of looks from the house’s recent collections, with the five featured looks – three suits, a ski suit, and a dress – in various shades of pink that were chosen to tie in with the many costume changes that take place along Barbie’s journey.
The brand also shared an interview with the woman who brings the titular doll to life on the big screen, Margot Robbie, where she reflects on Barbie’s relationship with high fashion and the surprising impact of the film.
