The BFC Announces 2023 NEW WAVE: Creatives
The British Fashion Council (BFC) is set to shine the spotlight on the fresh faces of fashion creativity by unveiling the 2023 NEW WAVE: Creatives list. Comprising 50 outstanding young talents, this year’s list showcases a diverse array of innovators, from digital artists, stylists, and photographers to makeup artists and set designers.
These chosen trailblazers will be celebrated on the grand stage of The Fashion Awards 2023, presented by Pandora, taking place on December 4th at the iconic Royal Albert Hall in London.
The Fashion Awards, organized by the BFC, has become an essential global entertainment platform. It’s where fashion converges with culture and entertainment, recounting the narratives of the year through excellence, creativity, and purpose. Besides being a celebration of talent, the event is pivotal in raising funds for the BFC Foundation.
Central to the NEW WAVE: Creatives initiative is the BFC’s focus on recognizing the often unsung heroes of the fashion industry, the behind-the-scenes magicians. This year’s lineup stands as a testament to the innovation and prowess that’s shaping the industry’s future. It’s not just a nod to the talent, but a resource for the global fashion community, emphasizing London’s role as a global nexus of creativity.
In an inclusive move, the 2022 NEW WAVE: Creatives community played a significant role in shaping this year’s list, endorsing their industry contemporaries. Final selections were made by a panel of esteemed fashion luminaries, including the likes of Amber Testino, Bandana Tewari, Carla Sozzani, and Samuel Ross, among others.
Past honorees of the NEW WAVE: Creatives initiative have included a diverse group of global changemakers such as Campbell Addy, Diet Prada, Peggy Gou, and Tyler Mitchell, to name a few. They represent a community that’s redefining fashion norms and bringing an invigorating creative thrust to the table.
The Fashion Awards 2023, presented by Pandora, serves as a nexus for the global fashion community, lauding leaders of change, extolling creative brilliance, and nurturing emerging talent. The BFC Foundation, underpinning this event, has been instrumental in fortifying the British fashion industry through education, mentorship, and grant programs. Their efforts in the financial year 2022/2023 alone resulted in a significant £1.2m in funds dedicated to designers and scholars.
