Middle Eastern Fashion Talent Recognized in Prestigious Ceremony
The Fashion Trust Arabia, a fund committed to highlighting Middle Eastern fashion talent, revealed its 2023 prize winners. The awards ceremony was postponed this year due to the unfolding conflict in the Middle East and was due to take place on Oct. 25, 2023 in Doha, Qatar. After careful consideration and a two-day deliberation process, the Trust awarded top honors across several fashion categories.
Amir Al Kasm, along with Cynthia Merhej of Renaissance Renaissance, emerged as winners in the evening wear category, showcasing their exceptional design skills and creative vision. This recognition underscores the vibrant and diverse fashion scene in the Middle East.
The selection of finalists and winners was overseen by an esteemed panel, including Sheikha Al-Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani and fashion writer Tania Fares, who established the Trust in 2018. Their combined expertise and insight into the fashion industry played a pivotal role in identifying the most promising talents.
The awards spanned various fashion segments, highlighting the depth of talent in the region. Beirut-based designer Ahmed Amer clinched the prize in the ready-to-wear category, while British-Lebanese jewelry designer Katarina Tarazi was honored in the jewelry category for her innovative and intricate designs. The accessory category saw the success of A Better Feeling, led by the dynamic duo Omar Taha and Lily Max, known for their distinctive eyewear designs.
