Spring 2026 Ad Campaign

Properly Undone

Review of Wooyoungmi Spring 2026 Ad Campaign by Youngmi Woo & Katie Chung with Creative Director Ben Reardon with Photographer Alasdair McLellan and models Edie Campbell, Boy Dijkhuis, Joel Kemp, Max Knott

Wooyoungmi’s Spring 2026 campaign, under the direction of Youngmi Woo and Katie Chung, with Alasdair McLellan behind the lens and Ben Reardon shaping the creative, offers a quietly confident meditation on summer elegance—one that feels less performed and more lived-in.

Set against the languid backdrop of a country estate, the imagery unfolds like a slow afternoon that refuses to rush. Sunlight spills softly across stone, wood, and fabric, wrapping the cast—Edie Campbell, Boy Dijkhuis, Joel Kemp, and Max Knott—in a warmth that feels both nostalgic and immediate. There is an ease to the compositions: bodies lean, lounge, and linger rather than pose. The wardrobe mirrors this sensibility—tailoring softened, shirting loosened, proportions gently subverted. It’s formalwear exhaling.

What resonates most is the campaign’s control of tone. The saturation and coloration you noted are indeed striking—rich without being heavy, sun-kissed without tipping into cliché. McLellan’s eye keeps everything grounded, allowing texture and light to do the storytelling. The casting further supports this: there’s an emotional restraint in the models’ expressions that avoids theatrics, leaning instead into introspection and subtle tension.

There’s also a quiet provocation in the styling. The interplay of traditionally masculine tailoring with abbreviated silhouettes and delicate fabrics introduces a gentle disruption—never loud, but enough to shift the conversation. It’s here that Wooyoungmi continues to carve out its space, not through rebellion, but through refinement with a point of view.

If there’s room to push further, it might be in narrative layering. The world is beautifully constructed, but it occasionally feels like we are observing still moments rather than being invited into a progressing story. A touch more friction or interaction between characters could elevate the emotional stakes.

Still, there is something admirable in the restraint. In a season where many chase spectacle, Wooyoungmi chooses softness, precision, and mood. Properly undone, indeed—and all the more compelling for it.
