The Longstanding Founder and EIC of the Global Magazine Will Receive a Special Recognition Award at The Fashion Awards 2024
Sophia Neophitou-Apostolou, the founder and Global Editor-in-Chief of 10 Magazine, is set to be honored with a Special Recognition Award at The Fashion Awards 2024. The prestigious ceremony will take place at The Royal Albert Hall on December 2.
The Special Recognition Award celebrates individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the fashion industry, and it acknowledges Neophitou-Apostolou’s 30 years of influential creativity. Initially trained as an architect, she pivoted to fashion, starting her career at British Vogue under the mentorship of Sarah Mower. She gained experience in journalism at The Evening Standard and The Independent before launching 10 Magazine in 2000. Subsequent launches included 10 Men in 2003 and 10+ in 2018.
Neophitou-Apostolou’s vision was to establish a platform that promotes freedom of expression and creativity within the fashion realm. Today, 25 years later, she remains committed to that mission, overseeing a growing international publishing network. This network includes 10 Magazine editions in London, Australia (launched in 2014), the USA (launched in September 2023), Japan (scheduled for September 2024), and Deutsch (set for March 2025), with further expansions on the horizon. Her efforts demonstrate a thriving future for print media, driven by passion, creativity, and innovation.
Beyond 10 Magazine, Neophitou-Apostolou has made significant impacts as Fashion Director and Creative Director for notable publications including The Sunday Times, Harper’s Bazaar, and various international editions of Vogue. Her collaborative work with renowned designers such as Antonio Berardi and Elie Saab, and a decade as the Collection Creative Director for Victoria’s Secret, highlight her versatile career. She also serves as the chair of the BFC Press Committee.
Reflecting on her career and this recognition, Neophitou-Apostolou shared her thoughts: “I am truly honoured to be receiving the Special Recognition Award. I feel so fortunate to be doing what I love and am passionate about every single day and being part of a team that treasures our world as much as I do. I feel lucky to have worked so closely with the BFC for over 20 years and have been the head of the press committee for a decade. We have effected so much positive change in our industry and seen it grow and flourish. It has been a true privilege to be recognised at the Fashion Awards. I want to thank my amazing team at 10 who without them, none of this would be a reality and all the brilliant inspirational creatives in every corner of my world who’ve been with me on my journey and filled it with beauty and fantasy I could never have imagined possible, truly a dream every single day.”
