Guillaume Henry Brought “Rose” To Life, A Fictional Film Character He Created As A Muse

Designer Guillaume Henry curated the Latin Quarter location for its cinematic qualities, envisioning it as a backdrop reminiscent of films by Jacques Rivette or Claude Sautet. He introduced a fictional character named “Rose” through a display of sporty chic silhouettes inspired by retro actresses like Stéphane Audran and Delphine Seyrig.

Henry expressed, “I didn’t grow up with fashion magazines. I grew up with film characters. Like a director choosing his actresses, I wanted to celebrate selfishly the women who inspire me.”

The star-studded front row included Katie Holmes, Maya Rudolph, Kelly Rutherford, and an unexpected guest, a bee, who garnered attention during a chat between Constance Jablonski and Stefanie Powers. Zooey Deschanel stepped in to gracefully remove the insect with her fan.

Henry’s collection featured nods to French film heroines with 1970s bourgeois chic, micro skirts for Gen Z, and dropped waistlines of the 1920s. He expertly captured the essence of French girl style, from classic black blazers and flared jeans to one-shouldered minidresses reminiscent of Lily Collins in “Emily in Paris.”

The show culminated in petal-shaped designs, closing with a graceful pink taffeta gown adorned with a graphic bow. Henry shared, “I wanted to bring back a subtle vocabulary. The world is aggressive enough. I wanted Rose to bring a little sweetness.” Mission accomplished.
