The Special Category Celebrates Recipients of the BFC’s Support for Emerging Talents
The British Fashion Council has announced the nominees for the BFC Foundation Award at The Fashion Awards 2024, which will take place on Monday, December 2, at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Presented by Pandora, The Fashion Awards serve as a significant fundraiser for the BFC Foundation, celebrating fashion’s role in culture and entertainment and recognizing achievements in creativity, excellence, and purpose across the industry. The announcement of this special category follows the announcement of the other nominees.
The BFC Foundation, a registered charity, is dedicated to supporting the British fashion industry through education, grants, and business mentoring. This year, the BFC Foundation Award spotlights designers benefiting from BFC initiatives, including BFC NEWGEN, BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund, BFC/GQ Designer Fashion Fund, and the BFC Fashion Trust.
The 2024 BFC Foundation Award nominees include Aaron Esh, a current BFC NEWGEN recipient; Bianca Saunders, awarded the BFC/GQ Designer Fashion Fund in 2024; Chopova Lowena, who received the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund in 2024; LABRUM London, a current BFC Fashion Trust recipient; and Tolu Coker, also a current BFC NEWGEN recipient.
These nominees were selected through a voting process involving 1,000 industry professionals who reviewed the full list of designers supported by the BFC Foundation. Additional award categories this year include Designer of the Year, Model of the Year, and British Menswear and Womenswear Designer of the Year. Winners will be announced on the night of the event.
Also to be awarded are the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator, the Outstanding Achievement Award, and several Special Recognition Awards, which honor significant contributions to the fashion industry. The event will also spotlight 50 of the most innovative young talents from around the world in its NEW WAVE: Creatives category.
