Athletes to wear technical outerwear and tailored kits
Loro Piana will participate in the 92nd edition of Piazza di Siena, the historic equestrian competition taking place in Rome’s Villa Borghese park from May 22 to 25, 2025. The brand will host two events during the show: the Loro Piana Trophy and the Loro Piana Six-Bars, both scheduled for Saturday, May 24.
This year, equestrian athletes Edwina Tops Alexander and Lorenzo De Luca will again compete under the Maison’s gold-blue colors as part of the Loro Piana Jumping Team. The event reinforces the company’s long-standing ties with the equestrian world and its continued association with the values of tradition, discipline, and fair play.
Loro Piana’s involvement in equestrian sports began in 1985 with the formation of the Jumping Team. In 1992, the brand designed the official uniforms for the Italian Show Jumping Team at the Barcelona Olympics. This marked the debut of the Horsey® jacket, which has since become a fixture in international equestrian events, including the European and World Equestrian Games.
For this year’s competition, Loro Piana athletes will wear custom uniforms that include a reinterpreted Spagna jacket made from navy Bristol fabric, a cashmere pima collar in ochre, and crest buttons. These are paired with white jodhpurs made from bonded stretch jersey. The kit features Australis® wool to enhance comfort and mobility. Off the course, athletes will wear additional pieces from the brand, such as the Horsey® jacket in Linen Silk Belt Storm®, and bombers crafted in Bristol and Windmate® Stretch Storm fabrics. All outerwear is treated with Storm System® to ensure water-repellency and wind resistance.
The Maison’s relationship with the Italian Federation of Equestrian Sports has continued over decades, with consistent support for the Italian Show Jumping Team and high-profile competitions. Loro Piana has also backed events such as the Loro Piana Puissance Event and the City of Rome Grand Prix.
Loro Piana’s ongoing sponsorship of Piazza di Siena reflects the company’s strategy of aligning with sports that embody technical skill and refinement.
