Take the Stage
Review of Michael Kors Collection Fall 2026 Ad Campaign by Photographers Inez and Vinoodh with models Misty Copeland, Sutton Foster, Judith Light, Audra McDonald, Lea Michele, and Kara Young

For its 45th anniversary, Michael Kors turns to the women who know a thing or two about commanding a room. The Fall/Winter 2026 Michael Kors Collection campaign brings together Misty Copeland, Sutton Foster, Judith Light, Audra McDonald, Lea Michele, and Kara Young, photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. Conceived around the idea of the “showstopper,” the campaign connects Kors’ longstanding affection for New York glamour with the performers who embody the city’s theatrical energy.
Shot in stark black and white, the portraits strip away scenery in favor of personality, movement, and silhouette. It’s a fitting approach for a collection built around making an entrance. Carlos Nazario’s styling emphasizes exaggerated proportions, fluid tailoring, sweeping outerwear, feathers, gloves, and sculptural accessories, while Stephen Galloway’s movement direction keeps the imagery from settling into conventional celebrity portraiture. Hair flies, coats swing, glasses become props, and expressions shift from commanding to mischievous. The women are not simply wearing the clothes; they are performing through them.
That distinction gives the campaign its charm. Kors has assembled women from across theater, dance, and performance rather than relying on a more predictable fashion cast, and their individual personalities remain legible within the campaign’s tightly controlled visual language. Copeland’s joyful physicality, Foster’s knowingly theatrical gestures, and Young’s playful poses each bring a different tempo to the imagery. The casting also complements the collection’s central proposition: glamour as confidence rather than decoration. These are clothes designed to occupy space, and the performers understand precisely how to do the same.

Inez and Vinoodh’s monochrome treatment lends the images a classic New York editorial quality while allowing texture and construction to carry much of the visual interest. Cascading tailoring, glossy satin, monumental faux fur, sharp wool coats, and architectural handbags become especially graphic without color competing for attention. At times, the standardized studio backdrop and prominent logo treatment make the campaign feel more traditional than its spirited cast might suggest, but the restraint ultimately provides a useful framework for the personalities within it. The images feel connected without asking six distinctive performers to conform to a single character.
There is also an appealing circularity to the concept. Kors marked his anniversary collection at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall and now returns to the culture of live performance that has informed his understanding of glamour since childhood. A donation made in each campaign star’s name to Broadway Cares extends that relationship beyond image-making. After 45 years, the campaign makes a persuasive case that Michael Kors’ idea of New York chic remains rooted in one enduring principle: dress for the entrance, but make sure the personality is what people remember.
