Review of Banana Republic Holiday 2024 Ad Campaign by Photographers Greg Harris & Gia Coppola with models Lauren Hutton, Mark Vanderloo, Michelle Ouellet, WanTing Zhao, and Malick Bodian
Banana Republic goes home for the holidays. Shot by photographers Greg Harris and Gia Coppola, the brand’s Holiday 2024 campaign celebrates the spirit of togetherness and giving in its home city of San Francisco.
The cast is led by iconic model and actor Lauren Hutton, who joins an excitingly eclectic assortment of Bay Area creatives, including winemaker Michelle Ouellet and San Francisco Ballet principal dancer WanTing Zhao. The unique approach deepens the spirit of connection with the city, which is brought to life through celebrations at some of the Bay Area’s most beloved locations, like Sausalito, North Beach, Alamo Square, and Chinatown. Meanwhile, other shots locate us more intimately within a home on Christmas morning as the characters come together for a gift giving ritual.
This range of locations makes for a series of strong backdrops for Banana Republic’s winter assortment, from elegantly voluminous coats ready for the cold-weather adventure to more casually cozy sets for sitting by the fire at home.
The concept of travel has always been at the heart of Banana Republic’s marketing, especially since the brand refresh a couple years ago. This holiday campaign at once flips that idea while staying true to it, showing that home is the destination most worth traveling to.
