Camper celebrates its signature Pelotas shoes with a beautifully joyful and nostalgic campaign shot by photographer Aitor Laspiur

Nearing the 30th anniversary since their creation in 1995 and now celebrated with vintage-inspired new versions, Campers’ Pelotas take their name from the Spanish word for ball, in reference to their original inspiration by vintage hand-stitched soccer balls. In the campaign, however, this word is given a clever double meaning through the brilliantly provocative tagline “Still Pelotas. Still got balls.”

The imagery, however, is quite wholesome. Shooting on analog film in Montserrat just outside of Barcelona, Laspiur draws on his typical practice of capturing intimate family portraits with a documentary feel. His soulful shots are alive with the joy of youth and country life, capturing an intergenerational chosen family as they soak up the summer, from dancing through sprinklers to cruising on bikes down the mountain.

Camper’s ads are always fun, clever, original, and personal, and this latest example is no exception. It’s rare for a brand to create campaign imagery that feels so invitingly warm and genuine, let alone a brand that just focuses on shoes – Camper isn’t like other brands though, and it has the balls (sorry) to show us that.
