Gucci’s First Standalone Salon Opens in West Hollywood’s Melrose Place

The first Gucci Salon is unveiled in Los Angeles, a city of debuts and premieres, an arena that celebrates luxury and glamour. It is a public space that is also somehow private, a union of the language of the personal and the spectacular, of the fantasy at the heart of Hollywood, and the craft that forms the soul of Gucci.

Each global Gucci Salon location is a true one-off, designed as a transformative, creative space with an atmosphere specific to each location, capturing the uniqueness necessary for true luxury. Each Gucci Salon offers a personal universe, offering intimacy and discretion, for clientele invited by appointment, upending the traditional language and experience of a boutique. It serves as a forum for imaginative discourse, exploration, and indulgence.

The setting’s aesthetic and personality guide the design process for this first Gucci Salon. The salon echoes Hollywood’s legacy and global appeal, as well as the aesthetic and guiding principles of the first Los Angeles Gucci boutique, which opened on Rodeo Drive in 1968. Today, an intimate setting has been created at the peak of Melrose Place in Los Angeles with the help of award-winning set and production designer Gideon Ponte, a long-time Gucci collaborator. The splendor of a movie set is combined with the language of a private home in this first-of-its-kind collection, which offers Gucci’s most exceptional pieces from Valigeria, precious leathers, High Jewelry, and Watchmaking, accessories, high-end custom collections, including eveningwear, tailoring, and gowns, as well as décor. Crystal chandeliers, mirrored columns, window niches, draped curtains like a proscenium, and jewel-colored detailing in fabrics and lacquer finishes echo those priceless objects contained within, underscoring the location’s rich history and referencing various eras and incarnations of Hollywood. Each changing area is reminiscent of the scenery on movie sets and the private spaces used by famous actors.

The location offers countless opportunities for reinvention to meet the demands of Gucci’s clientele. The space is dynamic and reactive, with no fittings that are anchored. Free-standing cabinetry and carefully chosen furniture allow the space to be redefined and individually tailored to each personality. This is a doorway to the creative dialogue at the center of every Gucci Salon, a space for the exploration of ideas and the materialization of dreams.
