Louis Vuitton’s latest campaign is a much-needed island escape.
In a sunny celebration of the new LV Escale collection, the label gets away from the drudgery of quarantine for a laid-back shoot on an island paradise. This year’s summer collection was inspired by shibori, the age-old Japanese technique that consists of twisting and knotting fabric before dying it. Photography duo Hill and Aubrey capture the trio of summertime colorways in images that feel just as free and beachy as the pattern that inspired them. Long-legged models lounge in LV printed swimwear before endless expanses of sea and sky; white sands and deserted beaches beckon.
The simple campaign is a testament to the power of timing and location. This hopeful glimpse into sunnier days to come is just the splash of optimism that was needed in a cultural moment that feels cynical and claustrophobic. A carefree tropical vacation instead of being stuck working from home? We’d be lying if we said we weren’t jealous.
