The Eyewear Originally Crafted by Pharrell Williams and Nigo Returns Under Williams’ Creative Direction
Louis Vuitton is marking the 20th anniversary of its Millionaires Sunglasses with a reintroduction by their original co-creator, Pharrell Williams, now the house’s creative director of men’s.
The original Millionaires were launched in 2004, when Williams collaborated with Nigo and Louis Vuitton, then led by creative director Marc Jacobs. This aviator silhouette, adorned with Louis Vuitton’s signature details, quickly became a fashion statement.
The Millionaires marked Pharrell Williams’s first design venture with Louis Vuitton, creating a significant milestone in the era’s growing intersection of high fashion, streetwear, and music. Two decades later, Williams has risen to lead Louis Vuitton’s men’s ready-to-wear and accessories, a journey that these sunglasses helped to shape.
In celebration of this milestone, the Millionaires have been relaunched under Williams’s direction, featuring two frame styles. The first, known as the 1.0, closely mirrors the original design, while the second, the 3.0, introduces a modern twist with carbon fiber construction, sleek silver LV-engraved hinges, and damier-patterned metal strips along the top.
The Louis Vuitton 1.0 Millionaires will be available in two colorways: a chocolate tortoise with gradient lenses, a turquoise-blue hinge, and gold accents, or a monochromatic black version with aged gold details. These will be available in-store and online starting July 4th, 2024.
The Louis Vuitton 3.0 Millionaires, crafted in Italy from lightweight, flexible carbon fiber commonly used in the automotive industry, will come in two versions: one with chromotherapy-inclined orange lenses and the other in monochromatic black. These will be available in-store and online beginning August 8th, 2024.
