Maison Mihara Yasuhiro Explores Lost Essence in Society Through Fashion
Maison Mihara Yasuhiro’s latest collection delved into the concept of people losing their essence in the age of social media. The Japanese designer, known for channeling the innocent enthusiasm of childhood in his creations, presented a new direction with his “Persona” collection.
In this collection, Yasuhiro focused on the details at the rear of his designs, making them impossible to capture fully in photographs typically seen on the runway. Oversize proportions took a backseat as baggy jeans and jogging pants were sewn onto matching Bermuda shorts. Shirts were repurposed as dresses and capes, while denim and sportswear pieces featured childlike sticker motifs and distressed knitwear.
Yasuhiro’s signature stuffed toys appeared as crossbody bags or playful accessories. The presentation was as lively as the designs, with audience members spontaneously breaking into karaoke as the show unfolded, leaving guests laughing.
