Top 10 2019 Women’s Fashion Shows

As Ranked by The Impression

Hindsight is 20/20 and often the lion of the moment turns to lamb while reflection gives you the clarity to understand who the true influencers were. In looking back at the entirety of runway collections from 2019 it becomes clear that the most influential shows of the year were by mainstay houses such as Celine, Gucci, and Valentino.

Hedi Slimane stepped back behind a major fashion house this year and delivered an empowering new vision for Celine that was at first met with much resistance. His consistent perseverance and singular point-of-view is not that dissimilar from the path that Allessandro Michele took at Gucci. Pivoting from the expected to eventually win over even the most difficult of dissenters. Gucci takes two coveted positions in our annual Top 10, pivoting himself this year to a clean and more tailored version of his eclectic mash-up of the brand.

Dries Van Noten’s teaming with Christan Lacroix produced a sweeping epic of a Spring 2020 collection that added an eccentric, feminine elegance to the house that was alluring and worth recognition. As are all of the collections that made The Impression Top 10 Women’s Fashion Shows of 2019 as selected by our Chief Impressionist, Kenneth Richard, and The Impression team, listed here from Z to A.
