The Bold Silhouette Combines Futuristic Style With Intricate Craft Techniques
Versace has unveiled its latest footwear innovation with the launch of the Versace Mercury unisex sneaker collection. The style blends futuristic design perspectives and materials with the house’s enduring craft-know how.
Artisans skillfully hand- weave 16 meters of crochet rope into every pair, dedicating three hours to the weaving and application process. The design features distinctive zig zag roping, with 30 precisely stitched components for the upper and lining per pair. Its upper boasts handmade woven lace, a focal point of dynamic design. The new EVA sole, adorned with the House’s Greca pattern and hand-painted interior, ensures both comfort and lightweight construction.
Personalization details include metal Versace lettering on the metal-plated heel, subtle Versace lettering on the tongue and eyelets, and a ribbon featuring the Greca motif in tonal jacquard. Notably, for the first time, the style code, country of manufacture, and size scales are printed inside the tongue. A team of 27 craftspeople collaboratively assemble all elements with great care, creating a fully ‘Made-in-Italy’ shoe.
The classic Versace Mercury M_VS_01 is available in sleek all-black and all-white colorways, featuring a distinctive shell-like, hand-woven roped upper. Special editions include the Versace Mercury M_VS_02 features luxurious rhinestone appliques carefully hand-sewn onto a hand-woven, waxed cotton netting, offered in black-silver and dusty pink-silver. Additionally, the Versace Mercury M_VS_03 includes a white-silver-gold base and replaces the rhinestones with an artisanally knotted upper. The collection expands with the Versace Mercury crew sock, designed to complement the sneaker’s look.
