The photography of Senta Simond is angular and intimate. Her sensitive portraits reflect on perceptions of femininity, and evoke a sense of the solitude of being embodied. With casual and direct camera work, making subtly inventive use of light and perspective, she conjures a daydream out of simple moments of being with oneself. Simond, who lives and works in Switzerland, has already generated an impressive list of accolades and honors for her exciting work in just a few years.
No doubt impressed, Miu Miu recruited the up and coming photographer to capture a variety of pieces from the Miu Miu Fall/Winter 2019 runway and post-runway collections, with a special focus on the label’s iconic jewelry. Senta Simond focuses an empathetic eye on these young women, richly clad by stylist Lotta Volkova, as they seem to experience moments of unguessable emotion, quiet epiphanies that remain unheard, but call out to us from across the lens.
The approach to this campaign is intoxicatingly artistic. Miu Miu shows wisdom in creating space for a skilled artist to honestly capture their pieces through her own visual language.
