While it feels like it’s been too long since a really big name came out of New York’s fashion scene, there is a tremendously exciting array of talent just below the surface – and while any of them would be deserving of rising to global fame, this season they seemed to revel in the underground “if you know, you know” kind of cool.
Heron Preston showed that streetwear, which these days can often feel like a staid and static category, still has exciting new things to show us.
Eckhaus Latta continued to revel in their unique place at the intersection of accessible and avant-garde, delivering a collection that made delectable and subversively sexy use of material.
Dion Lee refined the luxury rave wear with which he’s made his name while making impressive use of a broad range of craft techniques to bring the visual motif of a snake shedding its skin thrillingly to life on practically every piece.
