Fashion isn’t just about the numbers, but there’s no denying that popularity and attention are two of the most powerful currencies for today’s industry. As we look back on the rankings from a season of men’s fashion that largely saw the pack split off in two directions – one classic, quiet, and collected, the other boldly expressive – the most read reviews offer a unique perspective about which collections and brands industry insiders are eager to learn more.
While much of the list aligns according to popularity, hype, and cultural sway (it’s fitting, for example, that Sabato De Sarno’s Gucci menswear debut would be near the top), the strong position of brands like Wales Bonner and Sacai show that fashion’ power distribution is slowly evolving.
It’s no surprise that Prada should be near the top of the list, but this season’s collection in particular prompted plenty of questions – from the extremely cool set design to business-minded outfits that were strangely broken up by funky belts and beanies.
