The BFC Will Honor the Photographer at The Fashion Awards in December
The British Fashion Council has announced that artist, photographer, and filmmaker Tyler Mitchell will be honored with the prestigious Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator at The Fashion Awards 2024. The event is set to take place on December 2nd at the Royal Albert Hall in London. As the primary fundraiser for the BFC Foundation, The Fashion Awards celebrate the intersection of fashion, culture, and entertainment, highlighting creative talent and storytelling through purpose, excellence, and creativity. Mitchell will be recognized for his significant contributions to fashion, photography, and culture.
Tyler Mitchell’s work explores new narratives about beauty and desire, blending history with future possibilities. His images focus on themes of play, empowerment, and self-determination, offering fresh perspectives on life. His work is featured in prominent collections, including The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the National Portrait Gallery in London. His exhibitions have been showcased in leading galleries worldwide, including Wish This Was Real at C/O Berlin and Idyllic Space at the High Museum of Art, Atlanta. Mitchell’s photography has graced the pages of major magazines such as AnOther Magazine, Dazed, GQ, i-D, Interview Magazine, M Le Monde, Vanity Fair, Vogue UK, Vogue US, W Magazine, and WSJ. He has also collaborated with renowned brands like Ferragamo, Gucci, JW Anderson, Loewe, Louis Vuitton, and Wales Bonner. In 2018, Mitchell was part of the inaugural NEW WAVE: Creatives cohort at The Fashion Awards.
Mitchell was the first Black photographer to shoot a cover for Vogue magazine, a historic milestone that occurred when he photographed Beyoncé for the September 2018 issue of American Vogue.

The Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator acknowledges the industry’s top innovators and creatives, celebrating their invaluable contributions that have transformed the fashion landscape. Previous recipients include Campbell Addy, Edward Enninful, IB Kamara, Katie Grand, Lady Amanda Harlech, Mert & Marcus, Nick Knight, Pat McGrath, Professor Louise Wilson, and Sam McKnight.
