Sarné Joins the Richemont-Owned Brand After Serving as CEO of Stuart Weitzman
Richemont-owned Montblanc has announced the appointment of Giorgio Sarné as the new CEO, effective November 15. Sarné, a luxury veteran with over 20 years of experience in senior leadership roles, joins Montblanc from Tapestry Group, where he served as brand president and CEO at Stuart Weitzman for the past four years.
“I am delighted to welcome Giorgio to the group as CEO of Montblanc. His strong expertise in building soft and hard luxury brands comes at a pivotal moment as the Maison celebrates the 100th anniversary of the iconic Meisterstück,” said Philippe Fortunato, CEO of fashion and accessories maisons at Richemont.
Richemont recently reported a 1 percent decline in first quarter sales to EUR 5.3 billion, with a slump in Greater China sales hindering sales growth in the Asia Pacific region. The fashion and accessories maisons segment saw a 4 percent lift, with Sarné’s appointment aiming to build upon Montblanc’s growth in that segment.
“I am deeply honored and excited to step into the role of CEO at Montblanc, a Maison renowned for its excellence in craftsmanship and innovation. I look forward to working closely with the talented teams at Montblanc to further nourish and celebrate the Culture of Writing globally,” said Sarné.
Earlier this year, Richemont revealed Gianluca Brozzetti, executive VP of Buccellati, had joined Vhernier’s board as executive VP “in an ad-interim CEO role,” after the group’s acquisition of the Italian luxury jeweller.
