Gucci Celebrates the Holidays with Immersive Installation in Miami

Design District Display Highlights Brand’s Travel Heritage and Artistic Collaboration

Gucci has launched a festive installation at Sweet Bird North Plaza in Miami’s Design District, running through January 7. Inspired by snow globes, the display reflects the brand’s travel-centric heritage and its founder, Guccio Gucci’s, early experiences as a porter at The Savoy in London. This period influenced the creation of Gucci’s iconic luggage, including monogrammed trunks and suitcases, which are featured in the exhibit. The installation incorporates animated miniature buildings representing significant Gucci landmarks, such as Palazzo Gucci in Florence, the Wooster Street boutique in New York, and flagship stores in Paris and London.

In addition, the North Plaza showcases a Gucci Art Wall series, featuring murals by American artist Corydon Cowansage. Known for blending abstraction with figuration, Cowansage adapted her work to create three pieces for Gucci, integrating biomorphic shapes and vibrant colors. Her designs include undulating forms that evoke anatomical abstraction, with elements that echo the work of artists like Judy Chicago. These murals connect to her participation in Miami Art Basel, where her pieces will be displayed at Kaufmann Repetto’s booth starting December 4.

Gucci’s holiday celebration extends beyond Miami to Florence, where the façade of Palazzo Gucci has been illuminated. This lighting display will continue until January 17, highlighting the House’s Florentine origins and completing its global festive narrative.
