CFDA Partners with Veronica Beard to Establish New Scholarship

The Initiative Will Award Four Scholarships to College Juniors in Fashion and Textiles Programs

The Council of Fashion Designers of America and Veronica Beard have announced a partnership to establish the CFDA x Veronica Beard Creative Futures Scholarship, aimed at nurturing emerging design talent and promoting inclusivity within the fashion industry. This new initiative will grant four $50,000 scholarships to college juniors enrolled in fashion design or textiles programs across the United States.

The scholarship focuses on several design categories including denim, knits and sweaters, ready-to-wear, and soft wovens. Candidates will undergo a competitive selection process, culminating in a design challenge judged by Veronica Beard founders and sisters-in-law, Veronica Miele Beard and Veronica Swanson Beard. Known affectionately as “the Veronicas” in their professional circle, they have built a reputation on versatile, season-transcending garments.

“We are so excited about the opportunity to mentor and inspire the next generation of designer talent. We also fully expect that we’ll be the ones inspired at the end of the day,” Miele Beard expressed. Winners will not only benefit from the financial aid but will also gain practical experience through a summer internship at Veronica Beard’s New York City headquarters, providing them a chance to collaborate closely with the brand’s design team.

The scholarship application period is open through March 14, with a virtual information session for prospective candidates scheduled for February 6. This initiative reflects the CFDA’s and Veronica Beard’s shared commitment to fostering talent and diversity in the fashion sector. CFDA’s CEO, Steven Kolb, highlighted the significance of the scholarship, stating, “This exciting new scholarship furthers our longstanding commitment to nurturing the design creatives of tomorrow and creating opportunities for the future of American fashion.”

“Access and exposure are key, especially so early in these students’ careers. We are so thrilled to be partnering with the CFDA and share their commitment to supporting the fashion designers of tomorrow,” said Veronica Swanson Beard added.
