A Legacy of Innovation: Kim Jones Bids Farewell to Dior Men Following Acclaimed Tenure

Kim Jones is stepping down from his role as artistic director of Dior Men, marking the end of a six-year tenure that saw him redefine the house’s menswear with his signature fusion of heritage, modernity, and artistic collaboration. The news follows his most recent—and now final—collection for the brand, which debuted just a week ago to widespread acclaim. Shortly after, Jones was awarded France’s highest honor, the Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur, presented by Anna Wintour at a gathering attended by industry luminaries including Gwendoline Christie, Robert Pattinson, and Rick Owens.

In a statement, Dior chairman and CEO Delphine Arnault praised Jones for his ability to reinterpret the house’s legacy with “genuine freedom of tone” and for his innovative collaborations that expanded Dior’s artistic dialogue. Jones, in turn, expressed gratitude for his time at the house, thanking his studio, the ateliers, and the creative partners he worked with along the way. “It was a true honor to create my collections within the House of Dior, a symbol of absolute excellence,” he said.

Jones joined Dior Men in 2018 after serving as artistic director at Louis Vuitton Men’s, where he spearheaded the groundbreaking Louis Vuitton x Supreme collaboration that cemented streetwear’s place in the luxury sphere. At Dior, he continued to push boundaries, collaborating with artists like Kaws and Daniel Arsham, as well as designers including Shawn Stussy and Stone Island’s Carlo Rivetti. His tenure at the house ran parallel to his role at Fendi, where he designed womenswear and haute couture until stepping down in late 2024.

Throughout his career, Jones has been known for his deep curiosity, extensive archival knowledge, and willingness to share the spotlight—traits Wintour acknowledged at his knighthood ceremony, calling him a designer who embodies “togetherness, supporting, collaborating, and lifting up.” His departure leaves Dior Men at a crossroads as the brand navigates its next chapter in an increasingly competitive luxury landscape.
