Dior’s Traveling Retrospective Exhibition to Open in Seoul

Continuing a Series of Global Stops, “Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams” Will Open at Seoul’s Dongdaemun Design Plaza

The “Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams” exhibition is set to open at Seoul’s Dongdaemun Design Plaza from April 19 to July 13. This venue, noted for its futuristic design by the late British architect Zaha Hadid, will host the retrospective that first launched at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 2017, marking the 70th anniversary of the brand.

The exhibition explores the legacy of Christian Dior, focusing on his fondness for flowers and gardens, the precision of the Paris haute couture workshops, and the brand’s history of crafting attire for high-profile balls and parties. It will feature contributions from Korean artists Kim HyunJoo, Soo Sunny Park, and Zadie Xa, curated by Florence Müller.

Additionally, the exhibit will highlight the Lady Dior handbag through the “Lady Dior As Seen By” initiative, showcasing interpretations by artists from the Korean scene and other contributors. The space will also focus on the brand’s iconic perfumes and dresses worn by celebrity ambassadors like Rihanna and Natalie Portman.

In conjunction with the exhibition, Dior will continue its partnership with Ewha Womans University, promoting educational programs, scholarships, and mentoring opportunities through the Women@Dior initiative. Delphine Arnault, chairman and CEO of Christian Dior Couture, emphasized that this partnership aims to foster inclusion, autonomy, and empowerment among young women.

Following its debut in Paris, the retrospective has been presented in cities worldwide, including London, New York City, Tokyo, Shanghai, Chengdu, Riyadh, and Doha. Dior has also enhanced its presence in South Korea through cultural engagements and its association with global ambassador Jisoo from Blackpink.
