Fendi Explores a Decade of Couture in New Exhibition

“A Fairy Tale of the Future” examines ten years of the house’s couture evolution through the work of Karl Lagerfeld, Silvia Venturini Fendi, and Kim Jones ahead of Maria Grazia Chiuri’s debut couture collection

Fendi will present A Fairy Tale of the Future, an exhibition celebrating ten years of the house’s couture from 2015 to 2025. Opening ahead of Maria Grazia Chiuri’s first Fendi Couture collection in July 2026, the exhibition examines a pivotal chapter in the house’s creative history through a curated selection of couture garments by Karl Lagerfeld, Silvia Venturini Fendi, and Kim Jones.

Conceived as a reflection on the evolution of Fendi Couture, the exhibition brings together designs that highlight the house’s continued experimentation with craftsmanship, particularly its exploration of fur as a material for couture expression. Through embroidery, inlay, pattern making, color, and intricate surface treatments, the garments demonstrate how technical expertise and artistic vision have shaped the maison’s couture identity over the past decade.

Rather than following a chronological timeline, the exhibition is organized around a dialogue between the creative directors, encouraging visitors to consider the relationships between their distinct approaches. By placing their work in conversation, the presentation emphasizes the shared language of the atelier while revealing the individual perspectives that have defined successive eras of Fendi Couture.

The exhibition also places the atelier at the center of its narrative, presenting it as the space where creative ideas are refined through collaboration between designers, seamstresses, and artisans. Framing couture as both an artistic and technical discipline, A Fairy Tale of the Future positions the atelier as the enduring foundation of the house’s creative process while offering broader context for Chiuri’s upcoming debut and Fendi’s continued investment in couture craftsmanship.
